Classes for Intermediate and Race Sailors using Optimist, Open Skiff, Adventure, Laser, HS 420s and C420 (Spinnaker)

Optimist Intermediate (8 – 15yrs):

These classes are for sailors who have completed a Beginners (Learn to Sail) program and who want to work on improving their sailing skills. They will use the Optimist to build their skills and knowledge and may then advance to the Opti Race class. These classes are ongoing and sailors will learn boat handling, boat trim, boat care and some basic racing concepts. These classes are also suitable for sailors who don’t want to race – but just want to be better sailors and have fun learning how to do it.

Skiff (8 – 15yrs) (Not available Fall 2026)

These classes are for sailors who have completed the Intermediate Opti program and their coach believes they are ready to advance to the Skiff class. Sailors will learn advanced boat handling, boat trim, race tactics and rules and be invited to participate in local and travel regattas. These classes are ongoing and sailors, depending on age and ability, while learning to sail in OPen Skiffs.

Adventure (8 – 18yrs)

These classes are for sailors who have completed a Beginners (Learn to Sail) program, who want to further their sailing skills and experience, but do not want to learn to race at this time. They will get to sail a variety of boats and in a variety of conditions so that they get a broader understanding of what sailing is and can be.

Laser (+13yrs):

This class is for sailors who have completed a Beginners (Learn to sail) program and who want to work on improving their sailing skills in a single handed boat. They will use the Laser to build their skills and knowledge. They may also choose to participate in a 420 Intermediate class for double handed boat skills. This class is ongoing and sailors will learn boat handling, boat trim, boat care and some basic racing concepts.

420 Beginner and Intermediate (8th grade to 18yrs):

This is a combined class for sailors who would like to learn to sail and for those who have already have some basic sailing experience and who want to work on improving their sailing skills in a double handed HS420 boat. This class is ongoing and sailors will learn boat handling, boat trim, boat care and some basic racing concepts.

High School aged sailors who show the appropriate ability and attitude, may be invited to move on to the 420 Spinnaker team.

420 Spinnaker (8th grade to 18yrs):

This class is for invited sailors who show the appropriate ability and attitude and are ready to participate in team travel regatta’s around Florida.. Sailors will learn advanced Club 420 boat handling, boat trim, spinnaker, race tactics and rules and travel to 4 – 6 regattas during the season.

Club boats use included – you provide life jacket, clothes etc.


Returning sailors – Fall 26 classes will begin on Sept 12th and will be on 9/12, 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, (10/24 – no class), 10/31, (11/7 – no class), 11/14, 11/21, 11/28, 12/5 & 12/12.

Cost: $450 if registered before Aug 16th or $500 if later. Remainder due by Sept 12th 2026 (1st day of class) – you will be emailed a Quickbooks invoice.

Taking a 2nd class (either on Sat or Wed) is an additional $325. (Please submit a 2nd registration)

Laser classes (11:00 – 2pm)

420 Beginner/Intermediate classes (2 – 4:30pm)

420 Spinnaker classes (2 – 5pm)

Additional Race class – Wed (3:30 – 6pm)
