


Assistant Program Director – Lake Eustis Youth Sailing Foundation
We’re seeking an energetic Assistant Program Director to help manage our youth sailing programs, including classes, summer camps, and race teams. This role supports the Program Director and provides leadership both on and off the water. Our current Program Director is seeking to mentor the new Assistant in readiness to take over the Program Directors role.

Lake Eustis Youth Sailing Foundation’s mission is to inspire a lifelong love of sailing by providing safe, fun, and challenging opportunities for youth of all ages and abilities to learn, race, and grow on the water.
Position Overview
The Assistant Program Director supports the Program Director in the planning, coordination, and delivery of Lake Eustis Youth Sailing Foundation programs. This includes learn-to-sail classes, race team practices, summer camps, and community outreach. The ideal candidate is a strong leader, skilled sailor, and enthusiastic educator who enjoys working with young people and families. The Program Director will work along side and mentor you in your role.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in the daily management of youth sailing programs, including scheduling, curriculum implementation, and safety oversight.

Provide instruction for our Optimist, Skiff, Laser and C420 classes as required

Provide instruction for our Adult Learn to Sail classes

Plan, prepare and oversee LEYSFs Summer Camps.

Supervise and mentor instructors, coaches, and volunteers to ensure high-quality instruction and positive participant experiences.

Support the organization and delivery of regattas, clinics, and special events.

Monitor fleet maintenance needs and help coordinate boat and equipment care. Maintain a replacement parts inventory

Promote a culture of safety, respect, and teamwork both on and off the water.

Communicate effectively with parents, sailors, and staff.

Step in as acting director when the Program Director is unavailable.

Assist with program evaluation, recordkeeping, and reporting.
Qualifications
-
Sailing experience required; racing experience preferred.

Previous coaching or teaching experience, especially with youth.

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

US Sailing Level 1 Instructor certification (or higher) preferred, or willingness to obtain.

Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Florida Safe Boating Certificate and experience operating small power boats

US Sailing Powerboat Instructor certification (bonus)

Sailboat and Powerboat maintenance experience (bonus)

Location:
Lake Eustis Sailing Foundation operates out of Lake Eustis Sailing Club in Central Florida. Eustis is about 30 minutes north of Orlando. Our Lake is home to a vibrant sailing and racing community of Adult sailors and our youth program. The Adult program races every other week on MC Scows, Flying Scots and Wayfarers. See lescfl.com for more info. LEYSF hosts 2 regattas durning the year in addition to Summer Camp, weekday and Saturday classes from September through May.
